Lots of stuff to go over! Major changes for the civilians, MantiCon, and more!
CIVILIAN CORPS EXPANDED!
So, there is WAY too much here to make this simple.
In brief, the Civilian Program has been nicely expanded, and there is a lot out there for our CC members to explore! I’ll hit some highlights, and then add some links to learn more…
Diplomatic Corps
So, when I promised a bunch of you something to do when you signed on, this is finally here! You can even have your own chapters, if you like! The DC is being formalized into a group that coordinates with other fandom groups for everyone’s mutual benefit. From helping run events to free members of another group to do their thing rather than pass out flyers to teaming up to work on a charity event together, the Diplomatic Corps will be right there, making it work. Diplomatic envoys will be responsible for planning and making sure we have the people to make events with other groups run smoothly.
Intelligence Service
This is nice, and is a great thing for getting us out there to interact with other clubs. Intelligence will be responsible for identifying opportunities to team with other fandoms for everyone’s benefit. We will also be encouraging these members to actually join other groups, as active members, to help build the fan community as a whole. Intel will work closely with the Diplomats to develop identified opportunities.
Parliament
What? Government? This segment is the best of the CC offerings, in my opinion. This is more complex – basically, this is the voice of the people in the org. Each fleet will receive one member, plus one member for every two chapters. They will provide input to the leadership, and help make sure that everyone has a voice. The qualifications are simple – be a member, have taken at least one test, have attended one meeting or event (virtual counts), and commit to serve for three years. Oh, and command teams are not eligible. This is very much aimed at the active member who is not in leadership, but wants to help guide the group. There is a full manual available (it’s short!) here.
Noble Households:
Interesting way to RP social roles in the peerage of the Star Kingdom. So, what does being Count / Duchess / Baron whomever get you in tRMN? Well, not much. Traditionally, it was a reward for exceptional service over a long time, but that was that. Now, however, there is a structure for role-playing the noble side of things. So, of you have ever wanted to be a butler, gamekeeper, cook, footman, etc., this is for you! I encourage this, as the noble households will be chapters, for purposes of Parliament above.
Sphinx Forestry
Not much new, but there is more coming.
Merchant Marine / Cruise Lines
Yeah, this is a thing too. I really don’t know what to say here, but if you ever wanted to role play space freighters, or space cabana boys, this is all yours! Chapters will cover fast courier ships, freighters, and cruise liners. On a purely personal note, this service was co-created by an actual, serving, member of the merchant marine. So if you are interested in arguably the most realistic service we offer, this is it – the detail and realism in the RMMM is impressive.
Astro Control Service
So each fleet now has a hyper terminus assigned to them. Ours is Matapan, by the way. And yes, I had to look that up too. Once each terminus is fully staffed, junction fort chapters can be spun off (max of 2 per fleet). In the real world, we talked about using the ACS to provide travel assistance and tips for conventions in their areas. Not making reservations or other travel agent things, but local info that you might not get from a web search.
The Civilian Corps is expanding nicely, and it is great to see that we are moving forward with aspects of the universe that are not purely military. Watch the forum and our FB page for more as it is released! Click the image for a link to the forum’s Civilian Programs section. Once the info is released in a useable format, I will be getting that out to everyone.

JUNE MEETING
Meeting Time!
With a convention this month, the ship meeting is going to be a really informal event. My preference is to push cons over meetings, and see how we can build presence there.
So, we will be meeting at the end of the month – either the 17th or 24th. I will put a poll on the FB to confirm. If neither works, I’ll make a command decision. The white hat says I get to do that!
PROMOTIONS & BILLETS
Promotions & Billets!
The following promotions and rating / billets have been posted, congratulations to all!

E1 Joshua Binder, RMN-2541-14, to E2
E2 Dame Tammy Lynn Collins, KE, RMN-4244-16, to E4
E2 Sir Lee McKinnis, KE, RMN-3000-15, to E4
POSITIONS OPEN
I am still looking for Deputy COLAC, Bosun, and XO. These postings are intended to be a source of future command triad members, so you need to be willing and able to test to the proper levels.
This is a great introduction to the command and leadership side of the chapter, and is ideal for anyone interested in moving up! Due to the far-flung nature of the ship, you need not be located in the Chicago area, this can be done remotely.
Send your statement of interest to co@35.203.0.188, thank you!
