HMS Demon Ship’s Order 1702-07
To: All officers and enlisted personnel of HMS Demon (CLAC-62)
From: Captain (JG) Sir Geoffrey Strayer, Commanding Officer
RE: Billet Assignment
By my hand and the authority vested in me as commanding officer, HMS Demon, I hereby make the following announcements:
Intelligence is the fine art of convincing the opposition to tell you their plans. Preferably without them being aware they told you. To be an Intel Officer is to keep a lot of plates spinning at once, as you balance your information gathering with analysis, data crunching, and pattern checking. Like the anti-terror forces in the 21st century, Intel officers are often only noticed when they fail. Their successes are ascribed to planning, tactics, even carrots. It is a vital job, and our species second oldest known profession.
In accordance with this tradition, and having completed the prescribed courses of study, Spacer 2nd Class Kevin Walsh, RMN-1004-12, is hereby billeted as, and assigned the rating of, Intelligence Specialist, Her Majesty’s Starship Demon, CLAC-62.
Spacer Walsh is instructed repair to the Intelligence Office and assume the duties assigned to him.
Well done.
In the name of Queen Elizabeth III
Geoffrey Strayer, KDE
Captain (Junior Grade), RMN
Commanding Officer, HMS Demon, CLAC-62
